For this technology initiative, my proposed timeline would be to implement the plan starting in August of 2011. This would enable me to research grant options, schedule professional development trainings/workshops, and purchase the required hardware and software. The criteria for the funding would be of course, to have the monies in hand with enough time to complete the process. I would hope to have the funding at least 6 months before implementation. I, along with the the technology department would explore options to funding the plan and apply for grants that would provide enough funding to help make the process go as smooth as possible.

Resource Guide to Federal Funding

The above guide, while obviously not current, provides an overview of the types of funding that may be available and could be used as a jumping off point in the search for funding. I am including a few links below that are current and provide up to date information. Since Delaware has applied for, and received, the Race to the Top funds, it is quite possible that some of this money may be used to fund technology. I think that would be a logical place to start since it may be at the district or state level.

"Race to the Top"

As I was researching the hardware I would like to see placed in each classroom I discovered that Dell provides grant opportunities for schools. Since we have been using Dell computers for quite a while in my district, and the recent purchase of 66 notebook computers, they may also be a good source to pursue.
